Flood

Flood is the overflowing of an area where there is normally no water. It originates mainly from heavy or prolonged rainfall that can have significant effects on the flow of rivers, streams, canals and sewerage systems.
Flood risk is widespread in Italy, with serious consequences in municipal centres. In these areas, the concentration of people, structures and infrastructures is more intense, and human activity often modifies the territory, increasing the hazard.
