The I don't take risks campaign is promoted and implemented by the Civil Protection Department in collaboration with Anpas - National Association of Public Assistance, Ingv - National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, ReLUIS - Inter-University Consortium of Earthquake Engineering Laboratories and CIMA Foundation, in agreement with the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces and Anci - National Association of Italian Municipalities.

The Department of Civil Protection is a structure of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers that performs tasks of guidance, promotion and coordination of the National Service of Civil Protection, organizing its intervention in case of emergencies of national importance. It also deals with activities aimed at risk forecasting and prevention and draws up general guidelines for civil protection training activities.
In collaboration with other partners, the Department promotes I don't take risks and the diffusion of good civil protection practices, a task carried out by the entire National Service and all citizens who actively contribute to risk reduction.
The Department, through the National Communication campaign "I don't take risks" aims at spreading a policy of prevention and awareness about the natural risks affecting the country. The process of cultural awareness is possible only if the community plays an active role, being involved in civil protection activities alongside institutions, the scientific community and the world of organized volunteering.

Anpas - National Association of Public Assistance is one of the largest volunteer organizations in Italy and operates in the areas of rescue and assistance to the population, civil protection activities, assistance to sports events and international cooperation and active citizenship projects.
In 2010, the idea of I don't take risks came into being based on these activities: a communication campaign aimed at spreading the culture of prevention among citizens, informing them about the natural risks affecting the territory and the rules of behavior to adopt to mitigate these risks.
The focus of the process is on civil protection volunteers, properly trained in risk communication, who go into the streets to meet citizens and spread the idea that the best way to protect ourselves from a risk is knowing it.
This idea was proposed to the Department, which immediately embraced it, and since 2011 it became a permanent communication campaign, spread throughout Italy, which as of today can count on the training and commitment of thousands of civil protection volunteers belonging to hundreds of associations, including local sections of national volunteer organizations, regional associations and municipal groups.

The INGV - National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology carries out scientific and technological research in the field of geosciences, with particular attention to seismology, volcanology and environmental protection.
As Operational Structure it contributes to the activities of the National Service of Civil Protection dealing with the monitoring and surveillance of seismicity of the entire national territory and the activity of active Italian volcanoes, and the management of the surveillance network of tsunamis in the Mediterranean area.
Ingv is one of the long-standing partners of the I don't take risks campaign, and participates by bringing the results of its studies on earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes to the public. With risk forecasts, every informed citizen can take the right choices to protect themselves and adopt necessary actions to reduce the risks they are exposed to.
Through knowledge of the history, including the geological history of places, it is possible to recognize the evidence of past events that left a mark and be prepared to deal with the consequences of the natural phenomena that characterize that territory.

ReLUIS - Network of University Laboratories of Earthquake and Structural Engineering is an inter-university consortium that conducts research in the field of seismic risk assessment and reduction.
The institute is also a Center of Competence of the Department of Civil Protection and supports the National Service of Civil Protection in technical emergency management activities, with particular attention to post-seismic damage and damage assessments of buildings and infrastructures that are strategic or relevant to the consequences of their eventual collapse.
As a partner in the campaign, it makes a significant contribution to the development of issues related to seismic risk and structural prevention actions with which it can be mitigated.
The collapse of houses causes death, not the earthquake, and the seismic history of our country shows that much of the damage resulting from earthquakes is caused by the vulnerability and fragility of structures, unable to resist such events.
That's why ReLUIS aims at the dissemination of scientific knowledge about earthquake risk, to raise awareness of prevention among citizens and to help people understand that through a few simple actions it is possible to protect themselves and mitigate the consequences of an earthquake.

The CIMA Foundation - International Center in Environmental Monitoring is a research organization involved in the promotion of technological development in environmental sciences for the protection of public health, civil protection and the safeguarding of ecosystems.
The Foundation is also a Center of Competence of the Department of Civil Protection and supports activities for forecasting, preventing, assessing and reducing hydrogeological risk, forest fires and, more generally, natural risks of meteorological origin.
Having recently joined the campaign, CIMA has become a partner of I don't take risks with the aim of raising risk awareness among the population as the most effective prevention measure. In showing natural phenomena - such floods - through the lens of science, it is possible to inform citizens about risk-related processes and help guide their behavior toward greater protection of themselves and the environment, for the collective well-being.

The Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces is a coordinating body for the activities of all the Presidents of the Regional Councils and aims to improve the dialogue between the regions and the state through the development of shared programs on issues of common interest.

The Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces is a partner of the I don't take risks campaign representing all regions and municipalities taking part in the initiative. It is an active member in the process of spreading risk awareness  to help create informed and prepared communities.
