Vesuvius
Vesuvius lies east of Naples in a densely populated area; for this reason, it is considered one of the highest-risk volcanoes in the world.
The last eruption, on the other hand, was in 1944 and was marked by low-energy effusive and explosive activity. Since then, the volcano has been quiescent, meaning in a rest period, and is characterized by fumarolic activity inside the crater and low seismicity.
