Comic strip “L'attimo decisivo - La virgola” lands in all lower secondary schools
The second issue focuses on bradyseism and volcanic risk in the Phlegraean area
After the success of the first issue, the comic strip "L'attimo decisivo" is back in all lower secondary schools in Italy today with "La virgola," an episode entirely focused on bradyseism and volcanic risk in the Phlegraean Fields area.
In this new adventure, the power of the Equation reveals itself right inside the Phlegrean red zone. The four young protagonists, Carlo, Katja, Samira, and Paolo, must use all their knowledge to overcome a challenge. This challenge will allow them to discover the volcanic nature of the area, the phenomenon of bradyseism, past eruptions, present risk, the civil protection plan, and the prevention measures to be adopted.
Following the release of "La virgola," which has achieved a circulation of nearly 2 million copies, the dedicated website has been expanded with new content. This includes the flipbook, the audiobook, and in-depth videos, which can also be accessed via the QR codes in the comic strip. In these materials, the protagonists explain the features of the Phlegraean volcanic area and the national civil protection plan while offering suggestions for adopting good practices.
Several video lessons from scientists and civil protection experts are also available on the Io non rischio YouTube channel, which can help teachers integrate the comic book's contents into classroom activities.
"L'attimo decisivo - La virgola" is a comic book sponsored by the Ministry for Civil Protection and Sea Policies and the Campania Region in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit. It is produced by the Civil Protection Department, the Civil Protection of the Campania Region, and the Vesuvius Observatory of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.
