\"Prevenzione ed emergenza - Il volontariato tecnico di protezione civile: una risorsa per il paese\". This was the title of the meeting held on May 2 in the 'Nicola Cilento' lecture hall at the University of Salerno.

The initiative, organised by the Net.Pro Campania Association together with Net.Pro Italia, was a inspiring opportunity to discuss the value of the technical volunteer. In particular, the focus was on the importance of his function in the critical moments following a calamitous event and in the ordinary, fundamental phases dedicated to prevention.

During the meeting, the participants, including many students from the Faculties of Engineering, had the opportunity to touch upon the issues of safety culture and damage prevention through the heterogeneous skills and experiences of the speakers who took turns at the microphones. These included the Deputy Head of the Civil Protection Department Titti Postiglione, the General Director of Public Works and Civil Protection of the Campania Region Italo Giulivo, the Head of the Voluntary Service Office I Department of Civil Protection Filomena Papa, the President of the LARES Italia association Danilo Calabrese, and the Presidents of Net.Pro Italia and Net.Pro Campania, Patrizia Angeli and Antonio Pinto.

Awareness and good Civil Protection practices centred on the speech ‘La Campagna nazionale \"Io non rischio\": il ruolo attivo del volontariato tecnico nella diffusione della cultura della sicurezza’' (The national campaign \"I don't take risks\": the active role of technical volunteers in spreading the culture of safety'). The officials of the Civil Protection Department's Volunteer Service, Cristina Darida and Valentina Di Giuseppe Di Paolo, guided the audience through an interesting in-depth analysis of the methodologies and objectives on which the campaign is based.

From 2011 when the campaign was launched to the introduction of the physical squares in the digital world, the speakers walked through the main stages that led \"I don't take risks\" to become what it is today, a presence that guides citizens 365 days in learning about the natural risks affecting our country and the correct behaviour to limit their effects. There was also an opportunity to talk about \"I don't take risks School\", a declination aimed at primary school children, and about the 2018 overseas initiatives in Albania and Montenegro and 2019 in Tunisia.

During the morning, Net.Pro Campania communicators set up the 'I don't take risks' gazebo inside the university, sharing precious information on seismic risk. Volunteers from LARES Italia also joined the event. Using advanced visors, they offered a virtual reality experience, experiencing first-hand the effects of the earthquake and the importance of good practices.
